As President & CEO, Rob is responsible for setting and leading the growth strategy for Interface throughout the EMEA region in which the company has two production locations. He is an ambassador for corporate responsibility and sustainability, carrying on the Interface vision to become one of the first sustainable and then restorative company in the world (“Mission Zero”). To date, Interface EMEA has reduced its carbon footprint by 90% since 1996. Rob is a member of the Prince of Wales’ EU Corporate Leaders Group. He has represented the Interface approach and business case for radical sustainability across Europe, with presentations to the European Commission, Parliament, and various European political leaders. The Netherlands Green Building Council recently placed Rob among the top 25 most sustainable and innovative game changers of the Netherlands.

Prior to joining Interface, Rob was the Director of Global Strategy, Marketing and Commercial Services at Norit X-Flow (since acquired by Pentair). The company produces membrane filtration technology for various municipal and industrial water applications. Rob played an integral role in guiding the company through a period of rapid growth in both sales and manufacturing capacity, ultimately positioning it as a global leader in its field.

A native of the Netherlands, Rob previously spent 18 years working and living abroad. He started his career in the United States, where he joined Steelcase Inc, a global leader in the office furniture industry. Rob later moved to France, to work for the company’s European headquarters, before returning to the U.S. There he became a leader of a Steelcase startup company that develops and manufactures interactive communications technologies and led the company’s global expansion.

Rob and his wife, Melissa, have three children. In his spare time, he enjoys attending his children’s sports games. He also has a passion for music and loves to organize concerts and festivals. Rob is a founding Board Member of the How Far Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia. This non-profit humanitarian aid agency provides education, combats starvation and malnutrition, and prevents suffering from water-related diseases by providing sources of clean drinking water in East Africa.
